Rapid identification of bast fibers in ancient handmade papers based on improved characterization of lignin monomers by Py-GCxGC/MS

چکیده

The precise identification of hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) fiber in ancient papers is great significance the study paper history. However, different species phloem fibers belonging to bast (e.g., hemp, ramie, flax, jute) used traditional hand papermaking East Asian region present similar microscopic morphological traits, which renders their accurate problematic and may cause controversy archaeological interpretations. In this study, a method for Cannabis handmade by Py-GCxGC/MS was developed rapid characterization papers. proposed approach based on separation characteristic lignin monomers from lignocellulose Py-GCxGC/MS, with an example joss samples excavated site Astana tombs dating Tang Dynasty. bidimensional chromatographic pyrolysis signature plant materials allows well-structured layout 2D chromatograms. Therefore, it becomes possible distinguish these applying multivariate analysis treatment monomers. improved GCxGC showed benefit profile monomer group as well application statistical analysis. presents advantages being effective cultural heritage applications necessitating tiny quantity sample.
